The city of Murcia is described as one of the most beautiful and historic in the country. The city stands on the banks if the river and enjoys all year round sunshine with some of the highest temperatures in the region - summer daytime temperatures can easily reach 40 degrees Celsius. The weather is favourable for a vacation in all seasons, with winter temperatures rarely falling below 10 degrees Celsius.

The region has its own special charm, not least because the coastline (so far) remains relatively unscathed by tourism and the major towns and small inland villages are still Spanish in character. Murcia already boasts some of the best golf and tourism facilities at the exclusive La Manga Club, alongside the Mar Menor. And with the promise of more world-class18-hole courses to come in the near future, the region is setting its sights on rivalling Andalucia as the golfing mecca of Europe.

La Costa Calida (The Warm Coast) rims the region of Murcia. Its climate is particularly temperate and it has fine-sand beaches. Of special interest is the Mar Menor, a salt-water lagoon that is part of the Mediterranean and is especially apt for certain water sports. Its most important tourist centres are: Santiago de la Ribera, La Manga del Mar Menor, Puerto de Mazarron, Aguilas and Cartagena.
